(More customer reviews)I bought this because it was cheap, and I wanted to do some sanding easier than just doing it by hand with a sanding block.
It vibrates a lot, you have to have both hands on it, and even then it moves around a little unpredictably -- but that was okay with me, I knew from some reviews that a similar Ryobi model was like that.
Where it went wrong is that within the first 15 minutes of actual use, the part that holds the sanding disk and which contains the random-orbit mechanism FELL OFF -- the screw holding it to the motor shaft had come loose.Also, the bearing in that part was really quite incredibly hot, and it looked like there were pieces of some kind of metal or plastic material that had worn away on it.
I'm inclined to believe that either it's a bad design, or this particular tool was returned with such a problem and the reconditioning process didn't really fix it up.
It's not really worth the hassle of dealing with returning it, for me, but I think I'll not be buying a cheap refurb power tool again.
