(More customer reviews)I had high hopes for this sander.I picked it up at the local big box store, took it home and put it to work immediately sanding a really crappy texture job that the previous owner of my home applied.At first, I was really happy with this sander.It had adequate power, good ergonomics, light weight, good belt tracking and effective dust collection.The only misgiving I had was that it seemed to have an excessive amount of plastic.Therefore my initial impressions were good.However, after about 3~4 hours, the belt started slowing down.A couple of minutes later the motor started sparking excessively, and shortly thereafter caught fire.Are you kidding me?Sanding drywall texure burned this thing up?Heavy duty my a$$!This thing sucks!
Made in China, but no surprise there.Thankfully, Ridgid has a lifetime guarantee and a thirty day return policy.It may make you feel better about the purchase, but a guaranteed piece of crap is still a piece of crap.
