(More customer reviews)I recently purchased the Dewalt D28402K4 -1/2" grinder with this backer pad and a pack of 36-grit sanding pads (for refinishing a deck).
Out of the box this pad will NOT work with the D28402K. The locking nut is simply not long enough to grab ahold of the spindle. The instructions were non existent but eventually I went to DeWalt's website to see if anyone else ran into this issue (before I started removing material off the backing pad to get it to fit).
Apparently the fix is that you have to remove the washer and inner spindle on your grinder to get this POS to work.
I'll be trying this after work today but this is total crap. Why would DeWalt require you to modify your grinder so that it works properly with a DeWalt backing pad?
Makes absolutely no sense.
