(More customer reviews)The unit I received was dirty with paint and dust all over it. Plus, the previous owner had engraved their initials in the body. It is obvious that this unit has had a lot of use and abuse and is not at all what I consider, "factory reconditioned - like new". When I called CPO customer service to try and return it, I was put on hold for a very long time and then the call was disconnected. To their credit, they did call me back and after a tremendous amount of confusing and extremely frustrating discussion that is too lengthy to try to explain, they offered to take the unit back and give me a credit if I paid the shipping to return it. I already paid to have it shipped to me and now I would have to pay again to have it returned. So I've decided to just keep it and chalk it up as a hard lesson learned. I recommend spending a few dollars more for a new one (I sure wish I had).
(UPDATE) After trying to use this I have in fact found that it is defective. It spins uncontrollably when you lift it off the wood and spins so fast that the sandpaper flies off the pad (hook & loop). I called CPO back and they told me that they would examine it and see if what I am saying is true. If so, I get my money back. I'll keep you posted.
(FINALE) 6 days later I have been notified by CPO that they have examined the sander and are going to refund most of my money back to me; best I can tell, all but half of what the shipping cost me. I'm certainly glad that the other reviewer had a better experience than I did. I would much rather had written a positive review than this one....
